2016-05-17 - Savannah Smallidge scored 5g-1a and recorded three draw controls in Greece Arcadia/Olympia's 15-6 win over Gates Chili.  Smallidge scored almost at will and scored with some impressive drives at the cage.  She was demonstrative all over the field, especiallyon gaining control of loose balls.

The opening goal was scored of a free position shot by Madison Bodnar (Lightning).  Overall their were seven free position shots in the game with 6 of the first half's 11 goals coming from the 8 meter line.  The Spartans tied the game only 0:13 later when Micheal Altobelli grabbed the draw and ran straight at the goal for the unassisted goal.  Altobelli was a head taller at the draw then her competition and used that height to grab 3 draws and force the ball to her team a few more times.  When Altobelli was in control of the location of the ball, the Spartans tended to win; when the ball went to the ground, the Lightning were much more successful.  Bodnar finished with 5 draw controls to lead Arc/Oly.  Smallidge recorded her first assist 0:25 later with an inside feed to Alyssa Ballou.  Once again, the Spartans tied the game.  Becky Shust scored the first of her two goals with a drive from behind the cage.

The score remained tied 2-2 for the next six minutes before the Lightning scored their third goal.  Madison Corcoran scored the first of her 2g with another free position goal.  Three minutes later, Arc/Oly increased their lead to two with a work around drive from behind from Smallidge.  She seemed to slip in between three defenders and put the ball across to the far side of the goal.  She added her second goal just over a minute later with another free position goal.  The next three goals (two for Gates Chili and one for Arc/Oly) were all free position goals.  The final goal of the half was scored by Smallidge after she grabbbed a loose ball and scored on a fast-break up the field with 1:36 remaining in the half.  The Lightning led 7-4 at halftime.

They continued to increase their lead in the second half and added the first four goals to increase their lead to 11-4.  The 10th goal was significant as it began with Smallidge breaking the clear against the Spartans and forcing the ball up field to Arianna Rambali who scored.  The Spartans added two back to back goals in the middle of the second half, but still trailed by five (11-6).  Arc/Oly finished out the game with four more goals including a goal in the final second that was marked as good by the officials (and not placed on the scoreboard).  Alyssa Ballou scored her second of the game with a dodge down the left side after she picked up the draw.
