The Patriots shrugged off an early goal by Shaker (II) and coasted to their fifteenth consecutive victory. It was just the second all-time meeting between the two teams; the first, in 2012, also took place in the semifinals of the NYS tournament and was also won by Penfield.
Peyton Rothfuss led the scoring for Penfield (18-3) with four goals and an assist. Avery Fordham added three goals and an assist. Lexi Corcoran, Olivia Lanning, and Whitney Reynolds chipped in two goals apiece. Reegan Sercu handed out two assists. Peyton Rothfuss and Jordan Rasmussen each collected four draw controls.
The Patriots look to claim their second straight NYS class A championship when they face Huntington (XI) on Saturday.
