Canandaigua Secures Victory at Schroeder
Completing a game which was suspended on Wednesday, Canandaigua opened its season with a 9-6 win against Schroeder. The Gray Wolves scored six goals in the first quarter and built a 7-0 halftime lead, setting the pace for the game. Leading the charge for Canandaigua were Leah Sheridan (2g/3a) and Nola Weaver (3g). Lola Schorr added two goals and an assist, while eighth-grader Taylor Ennis-Chinn celebrated her first varsity goal. Aviana Nelson made three saves for Canandaigua to help secure the win.
Schroeder struggled in the first half but fought back in the final two quarters, netting six goals. Brooke Guelli and Molly Meyer each scored three goals for the Warriors, and goalie Maura Ugine recorded 11 saves.
Canandaigua now has an 11-game winning streak against Schroeder dating back to 2016. Both teams will be back in action on Saturday against section VI opponents, with Canandaigua heading to Orchard Park and Schroeder hosting Lancaster. [ BOX SCORE]
