Friday: R-H Over Pittsford, CA and FPT win by One

DAY IN REVIEW: FRIDAY -  In a re-match of last year's Sectional Title game, Rush-Henrietta beat Pittsford 6-4. Mercy played their second game in two days but it was Canandaigua with the 8-7 win. Irondequoit was a 12-6 winner over HF-L and Fairport was a 10-9 winner over Penfield.

RUSH-HENRIETTA 6 - PITTSFORD 4  - What better way to open the season than a re-match of the last few Class A Sectional Title games.  In Rush Henrietta tonight, RH again topped Pittsford by a score of 6-4.  As is customary for early season lacrosse, the game was a hard-fought defensive battle in poor weather.  In a balanced a low scoring game, only Danielle Garrett (2g), and Lena Cox (1g,1a) were multiple point scorers.  Defensively, Goalie Angelia Oeschsle made 8 Saves while allowing only 4 goals and Junior midfielder, Catrina Rowe earned valuable possessions for the Comets scoping 3 Ground balls and securing 3 Draw Controls. No Book was submitted for Pittsford at time of post.   [BOXSCORE]

CANANDAIGUA 8 - MERCY 7  - Playing on back to back night, Mercy traveled to Canandaigua and took the Braves to the wire tonight.  Canandaigua took a 7-4 lead into the half on the strength of a 3 goal and 2 assist performance by Hanna Davis (3g, 3a), however Mercy fought back to tie the score 7-7 midway through the second half.  Then with 9:01 remaining, Canandaigua’s Liv Schorr (2g) received a feed from Davis and deposited it in the net for what proved to be the game winner and final goal of the game.  Goalie, Maggie Cross came through with 6 saves, while for the Monarch’s, Freshman Syd Cook (4g) was a menace from the 8-meter Arc, scoring all four of her goals from the 8.  Mercy also dominated the Draw Circle, although no DC stats were submitted for Marcy at the time of post.    [BOXSCORE]

IRONDEQUOIT 12 - HONEOYE FALLS-LIMA 6  - Both Irondequoit and HFL evened their records to 1-1 tonight, as the Eagles hosted the Cougars and sent them home defeated 12-6.  No further information was provided by either team regarding this game at time of post.    [BOXSCORE]

FAIRPORT 10 - PENFIELD 9  - Fairport improved their record to 2-0 by narrowly defeating Penfield 10-9 in Fairport tonight.  The score was knotted 6-6 at the half, but the Red Raiders were able to edge out the Patriots in the second half.  Senior Ava Peers (3g, 1a) and Junior Katie Mallaber (1g, 3a) each posted 4-point performances to pace Fairport’s offensive output, while Freshman, Ellie Miller secured a game high 5 Draw Controls.  Fairport goalie, Jaelyne Twomey made 7 saves for the Red Raiders.  For Penfield, Peyton Rothfuss (3g, 2a) again led the team with 5 points, while Grace Rund’s all-around game kept Penfield close, scoring 2 goals and dishing out 1 assist, scooping up 2 GB’s and winning 3 Draw Controls.  Goalie, Karis hand also made 7 saves for the Patriots.    [BOXSCORE]

No Scores or game results were submitted for Lafayette vs. Penn Yan, Hilton vs. Greece, or Victor vs. Webster Schroeder at time of post.
