Newark-Midlakes holds off Aquinas
AQUINAS-12 at NEWARK-MIDLAKES-14 - In the only close contest of the day, Newark-Midlakes held off Aquinas. It was the Screaming Eagles' first victory of the season, as well as their first victory over the LIttle Irish in three tries dating back to 2021.
Zoey Overslaugh had five goals and two assists to lead Newark-Midlakes (1-0); she also collected a team-high eight draw controls. Brooke Faust scored three goals for the Screaming Eagles. Elizabeth Scibona and Jamie Lawson added two goals apiece, and Kendall DeBrock recorded a goal and three assists.
For Aquinas (0-2), Brynn Henry led the scoring with seven goals and two assists; she also caused five turnovers. Alexandria Stacy chipped in two goals and an assist. Seventh-grade Claire Acker scored her first varsity goal in the game, as did Madison DiBattisto.
