The Barons scored ten goals straight before Penfield scored the final three goals during a single yellow card against Brighton. The Patriots came out of the gate strong and scored the opening two goals. Lindsay Hernady scored unassisted on fast-break goal only 0:26 into the contest. Two minutes later Chelsea Atkins fed the ball to a cutting Megan Motkowski to give the Patriots a 2-0 lead with 22:46 left in the first half. Brighton followed with two of their own. Rene Gangarosa assisted Smolensky for the opening goal and two minutes later Gangarosa scored unassisted.
